“And you’re certainly, all kinds of amazing.” He told her, taking her hand and giving it a slight squeeze, “I love you more than I’ve ever loved anybody in my life Maureen.” She honestly had no idea how much she meant to him, over the past months he’d grown to love her more than he’d ever loved his own mother and that was saying quite a lot.
“I love you more than quidditch.” Squeezing his hand with a soft chuckle, Maureen rubbed her thumb over his knuckles. “I want you to know, you’ve made me so happy these last few months. I’m glad I decided to wonder about London drunk and talk to the strange man staring at a house.” The memory of their reunion makes her laugh as she sips her glass of wine, winking at Ian over the glass.
“Yeah, that night turned out a lot better than expected.” Ian poured himself a glass of wine without letting go of her hand. “These past few months have been amazing Maureen. I’m glad I met you that night.” He really was, there was nothing better that could ever have happened to him that night. Ever since then he’d been the happiest man on earth and he couldn’t imagine it being any different. Dinner went by swiftly.
“Honestly?” Ian asks with a chuckle. It had, quite honestly, been an idea that had come together in a short amount of time. It had all come together the previous night. It occurred to him that he should do something special for her birthday, especially since it was the first time they’d be able to celebrate either of their birthdays and he didn’t really see either of them throwing lavish parties any time soon even though they both had more than enough money to do so.
“It all came to me last night. I figured we’d finish this date the way it was supposed to go, even though I really enjoyed the way it did go.” The waitress came over, uncorked the bottle and set it on the table for them.
Her eyebrows shot up when he said it’d taken him one day to pull this together, and Maureen grinned over at him. “You’re kind of amazing, you know that?” Placing the napkin in her lap, Maureen poured herself a glass of wine, thinking over their first date. “I think our first date went rather well too. I mean, it led to this, led to us.” The two of them was perhaps the best thing that had ever happened to Maureen.

“Over-romantic bastard.” Laughing softly, Marueen moved to kiss his cheek. “Thank you.” The restaurant was much more romantic for dinner, and she found that she was really enjoying herself. For Ian, wearing a nice dress to a romantic dinner wasn’t even the slightest bit irritating. She enjoyed the way he looked at her, and after all, they’d first met with her in a dress, In a way, it might be good luck for them.
Worrying her lip when he pushes away the menu, Maureen isn’t sure if she finds it annoying or rather sweet. Clearly he’s trying to make tonight special, so she lets it go with a soft smile. Besides, it’s her birthday, time to relax and smile, not fret and frown. “This is… how long have you been planning this?”

She’d insisted, multiple times even, that she didn’t want to be a bother and have a big birthday. It was just another day for her, but in a way, Maureen rather enjoyed Ian’s insistence upon celebrating it. And the more she thought of it, the more Maureen thought it would be good for them. They needed something to celebrate.
Only grumbling slightly when he insisted she close both her eyes and cover her ears as he told the cabbie where they were going, Maureen smiled again as he took her hand. Lacing their fingers together, Maureen just enjoyed being with Ian, their little trip to London was even more perfect than she could have hoped for.
Following him out of the cab, Maureen walks carefully behind him, getting a little excited about this surprise. She only needs him telling her to open her eyes, and eagerly Maureen looks around at her surprise. “Ian…” Covering her mouth with her hand, she feels a strong rush of emotion as she realized where they were. “This… this is where we had our first date.”
Ian can’t resist the urge to smile at her reaction. “I thought it would be nice to finally finish that date. We never really got a chance to eat out properly,” he said, leaning over to give her a kiss on the cheek. “Happy birthday love.” Giving her hand a light squeeze, he walked over to the door, holding it open for her.
The waitress directed them directly to their table, he’d come by earlier and asked to reserve their most romantic — and private — table. Ian knew that Maureen was usually against being a girly girl, but once it a while it wouldn’t hurt her to play the part. Plus he liked the way she looked in a dress and he knew how eager she’d be to take the clothes off once they got back to their flat.
“You know the order,” he said as the waitress was about to hand the menus out to them. “And a bottle of red wine.” He smiled politely at the waitress. Ian wanted to keep Maureen on her toes and surprise her as many times as possible.

If there was one thing that Ian wanted to do for Maureen’s birthday, it was finish their first date. At least have a proper lunch this time. At a proper restaurant, not a chip shop. This time, instead of taking the bike there again, Ian decided it would be a better idea just to take a cab. Instead of going for lunch, like they had last time, Ian wanted to make it a little bit more romantic and decided to take her out to dinner.
Before they’d gotten into the cab Ian had asked Maureen to close her eyes, and for a moment her ears too. This meant that not only did she have no idea where she was going, it meant that Ian could hold her hand all of the time — although he wasn’t going to admit it, it gave him butterflies.
As the cab pulled up to the restaurant Ian paid the cabbie and got out, holding the door open for her as she got out. He knew she wasn’t a big fan of being taken care of like this, but for the moment it felt right. They stood there hand in hand on the curb in front of the restaurant, which had been made just a little bit more romantic with a rose on each table and a lit candle burning brightly next to it.
Ian turned to Maureen with a smile on his face. “You can open your eyes now you know.”
